How to Transfer a Site From Another Hosting Provider to Host-ed.net With Minimum Downtime Print

  • 11

If you want to transfer your site to Host-ed.net with little to no downtime here is what you should do:

1. Order one of our hosting plans from this page http://www.host-ed.me/members/cart.php

2. You will receive a welcome email with subject "New Account Information" which contains your hosting control panel credentials.

3. If the site domain in question is your primary domain name (the first domain you choose up on sign up) then you may skip this step. If this is a new additional domain you would like to host inside your account you should add it through the "Addon Domains" section inside your hosting control panel.

4. Upload your site using FTP. We recommend FileZilla as the best FTP upload client. If you are uploading your primary domain name you should upload it in the /public_html/ directory if you are uploading an addon domain then you should upload it into the /public_html/youraddondomain.com/ directory. If you would like to preview the uploaded site you may use the temporary URL mentioned inside the "New Account Information" welcome email.

5. Once you are done with the upload you should go to your registrar's domain control panel and change the nameservers of your domain to ns1.host-ed.me and ns2.host-ed.me. Please allow up to 48-72 hours for complete propagation.

This is how you transfer a site with minimum or no downtime. Let us know if you have any questions.
